Garrett's House is dedicated to the support, advice, and education of a genetic skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa or EB for short. Currently there is no cure or effective treatment for EB. Please take a moment to learn about EB, and how you can support others who struggle with EB everyday. Garrett's House also honors the memory of those who lost their brave fight against EB. Please check out the Garden of Angel to learn more about the precious butterfly angels.

Poems and Quotes

“Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that’s how I will
remember you.  But if you can only remember me with tears,
then don’t remember me at all”

"When one of your children goes out of your life, you think of what he might have done with a few more years and you wonder what you are going to do with the rest of yours.

You never really accept it; you just go through the motions.

Then one day, because there is a world to be lived in, you find yourself a part of it again, trying to accomplish something--something that he did not have time enough to do.

And, perhaps, that is the reason for it all. I hope so."

~ Joseph Kennedy Sr.

“It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens, but it is never gone.”

~Rose F. Kennedy

"One someone you love becomes a memory;
that memory becomes a treasure"

Here is a poem I wrote in memory of Garrett:

A Mother’s Wish
(in memory of Garrett)

I  gave birth to you, my precious angel
I thought everything would be fine
How was I to know
Your life would be shorter than mine?

You had lots of friends
Waiting at the gate
We now begin to see
This was your fate.

You ran to heaven
And couldn’t wait to see
Your whole new world
That is EB Free.

You have no more blisters
You are in no more pain
But then again, life with out you
Will never be the same.

To see you grow up
Was my biggest wish
What I wouldn’t give
Just to feel your gentle kiss

Why God needed you now
We’ll never know
What I wouldn’t give to see you;
Only I will ever know

When I close my eyes I see you
You are never very far
Because in my heart
Always you are
